English Education in Japan
The Japanese compulsory education in English should be changed to focus on speaking and using more practical English. It is a fact that the Japanese education does not give the students enough opportunities to speak English with other students in the classrooms and tend to put more emphasis on teaching grammar. So we prone to think that we should concentrate on using correct words and phrases when we use and speak English. If we state wrong English in grammar to the audience, we get embarrassed. However, even if we have chances to speak English, we sometimes result in using useless English automatically because English textbooks in Japan contains a lot of sentences that native American do not use in the colloquial conversation. For example, "The athlete was in the most perfect health when he started the competition." You can see that we do not usually say "most perfect" and "he started the competition"should be changed to "the competition started" On the whole, if the Japanese compulsory Education switch to speaking useful English more, we, the Japanese come to get more confidence to use English.
